A U shuttle driver died Saturday in a crash on upper campus.

Salt Lake City Fire responders found James Lamb, 72, unresponsive after he hit a wall before 10 a.m. They performed CPR but later declared him dead at the scene, said university spokesperson Maria O’Mara.

No one was on board the shuttle when the incident occurred. O’Mara said the driver, who was transporting the bus for cleaning and maintenance, likely suffered from a medical condition that caused the crash, as it was “not high impact,” and the vehicle had little damage.

The accident occurred at an intersection near the Sage Point dorms above Ft. Douglas. Lamb collided into what O’Mara describes as a decorative wall where Connor Road, Pollock Road and Chipeta Way meet.
